How tight should your belt be?
The short answer: the belt needs to be so tight that you dont loose the brace throughout the lift and it needs to be so loose that you are able to create a big and strong brace without crushing your abs and abdominal muscles.
How do you know your belt fits perfectly?
A good rule of thumb is that you need to be able to stick your whole hand in between you and the belt. If you are not able to do this, your belt is too tight. You also need to be able to take a big breath down into your stomach and create a brace out into the belt without feeling like your abdominal muscles are being crushed.
What to do if you can't get your belt to fit perfectly?
Sometimes it can be difficult to make your belt fit perfectly even though you have the knowledge on how tight it should be simply because your belt won't allow you to. This is because there is far between settings on lifting belts. Because of this reason i have offen found myself being in between two setting. Ether the belt is too tight or it's too loose.
